Fortunately the folks at the Avis customer service line were very helpful and responsive and I was able to swap the car at a different location.
I requested the car for 7am, arrived, and they seemed to have forgotten about my car. They called the airport, and said they need to have the car delivered. Waited, waited & waited. Finally 2 hours later, at 9am the car arrived. No real reason, or remedy to the problem.. Unfortunately this really wrecked my schedule as I needed to be in Austin for business. Bad domino effect.
I rent weekly from Avis for business. Literally 40+ weeks annually. I have rented from this location twice as it is semi local to me. My latest rental will be my last at this location. As a pathologically loyal Avis renter, I am used to great service. The staff at this location actually made me feel unwelcome and burdensome. I was overcharged on rental return, politely asked for an adjustment and was told it would have to happen later as they were busy. Rather than argue, I simply called customer service and received immediate and hospitable assistance. This is a franchise location with limited inventory and personnel who do not appear to value customer loyalty. Far from my typical Avis experience.
The lack of internal and external communication really wrecked my experience with them. Apart from the the car worked out great, the return was easy. I wish they would have offered a solution or remedy to fix the issue.
I noticed a cigarette odor, but it didn't seem too bad so I noted it on the inspection sheet. I drove the 6 minutes back to my hotel (6 minute drive, 50 minute walk!) and put my luggage from my room into the trunk. After my meeting, I got in my Avis rental and the overwhelming smoke smell literally choked me. I headed out, but the smell was unbearable I had to roll the windows down.
Best rental experience ever. The process was super easy and fast. The customer service was superb. I was in and out picking up the car and returning it. Avis will definitely be my choice for future rentals.
I made a reservation for 7:30am and walked there for my morning walk. The walk was a little faster than I had planned and I got there early. The grumpy, condescending, discourteous lady (Katie) seemed bothered by my early arrival and said it could be 8:30 or 9. She said that I was "just reserving a rate not a time," whatever that means! I ended up getting the car by 7:30 and she told me I should be appreciative that I didn't have to wait!
I wouldn't recommend this location unless they can prove they have had some intervention from higher up the corporate chain.
Great experience. Cheaper than the airport and friendly service. Katie checked us out. Very professional and definitely knew her stuff. If in need of a rental this is thr place to go.
